Social Media - Connecting Like Minds
If you read my previous blog, you know I talked about finding your voice on these social media platforms, well what happens when the unexpected happens? Unexpected in a good way, God-way! I have had the pleasure of connecting spiritually with a handful of women via social media. Whether it’s through YouTube, Instagram, Periscope or other platforms, there are women who have prayed for me and with me that I’ve never met in person, but their impact into my life has been truly a divine connection by God. The Bible tells us “do not believe every spirit, but test the spirts to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world”, 1 John 4:1, NIV.
So, keeping that scripture etched in my mind at all times, it was not easy to just jump in with these women, but it was constant communication and our spirits connecting that have brought us to our level of friendship we have today. While there are several women I’d like to highlight, I will start first with Synetta. Synetta is an AMAZING YouTube vlogger; as a matter of fact that’s where we first connected. Our first connection was through the natural hair community. When I tell you Synetta can style her hair as well as accessorize, she is REALLY good. Plus, from time to time she teases us with her cooking videos. When I am not too busy and have the time, I do enjoy thrifting and Synetta is a thrifting queen. Somehow she manages to find some AMAZING items and she pieces them together so well. Her website ‘Butterflies In My Stomach’ launched this past summer and all of the things I love about Synetta’s content, she manages to bring it effortlessly into her writing.
As I mentioned, Synetta likes to teases us with her cooking, so for those of us that don’t like a million ingredients in our food, check out this video on this great recipe! I made her egg roll wraps and OH MY GOSH, had to make them 2 weeks in a row for the football game because they were so popular.
One of my personal impacts with Synetta was her helping me with my blog. I am good at just brain dumping on a piece of paper, but after discussing this with Synetta, she offered to edit them for me. That was a blessing to me, and I don’t even think Synetta realizes that, though I’ve told her many times. It’s easy as a person trying to make sure you are defining your own voice in this social media world, that your message is concise and no grammatical errors. Synetta helped me BIG TIME!! Both of our businesses are picking up and there is so much in store for 2016!
