Seeking Gods Face Through Journaling
As you know The Fabric Beautique™ offers Prayer Journals as part of its product line; click here to see these amazing journals. Well, my personal testimony is that keeping a journal on many occasions saved me from making major mistakes in life. I know there are many people who think a journal is just “one more thing to do." Please don’t look at it that way. This is a very awesome opportunity to spend time with God as part of your devotion. I’ve heard people say, “I don’t know when God is speaking to me." Many times that’s because we pray, get up and go about our day. Or, perhaps our prayers are not strategic or focused. God requires time with him, just like your spouse, your job, and your kids. In order for us to be the best, in those relationships, you have to cultivate it in some type of way. A journal is just another way to expound on the time that you are already spending in God’s word.
God does not speak to us in just one way, or about one topic. There are a multitude of things going on in your life that God is trying to show you and your thoughts could be all over the place. Perhaps you are dealing with family issues, struggling in school, needing to move off your job, to either a better opportunity you know you deserve or simply taking the steps to move into full-time entrepreneurship. Or you could already be in full swing of your entrepreneurial dream or that new promotion and you feel something is missing and you know it’s that tug in your spirit to go deeper.
Through keeping a journal, I document every thought I have, good, bad or indifferent. I also journal:
- To study God’s word; either a specific book or chapter God placed on my heart
- My day: successes, mountain highs, valley lows
- Prophesying to myself by the power of the Holy Spirit
- Plan, purpose and will of God for my life
- Major decisions I have to make
To get the best use out of your journal, I suggest you use your journal for the following, keeping in mind this is not an all-inclusive list:
- Writing out your thoughts
- Studying God’s Word
- Prophetic word through the Holy Spirit
- When you Fast in combination with Prayer
- Your goals, visions, passions, dreams, etc.
- Time of Spiritual Warfare
