Q. First, can you tell us a little about yourself and what started your mission and vision for your business or ministry?
I'm Chamel Evans! Faith Mentor, Encourager, and Creator. Wife of 11 years to my high school sweetheart, mom of 3 boys (9,6,2) and lover of Jesus, chocolate, turquoise, and impacting lives for the Kingdom. I'm on a mission to change the lives of women - their atmospheres, attitudes, and hearts for the Glory of God. It’s all about celebrating our faith journeys, lives full of faith & massive influence -- on God's terms.
My brand fuses Biblical truth with creative application to help women live anchored in their faith and illuminate their God-given power of influence in their homes, careers/businesses, and communities. This mission was birthed from digging deeper in my own personal faith journey when God started pruning away at some emotional and mental strongholds and showing me the importance of a strong faith core.
It allowed me to see that the freedom and the abundance I so desired wasn’t going to happen until I got real honest with myself and truly surrendered to all the messiness that was going on and just embraced where I was. God wanted me to truly experience walking in victory and to help others do the same. But I had no idea that he was going to use me as a beacon to share His light with other women with the same struggles.
So today I’m on a mission to empower Christian women to live out their truest authentic selves, love and influence those in their circle with grace, and break free from mental roadblocks through faith-infused mentoring, encouraging products, actionable resources.
Q. What does “Ministry Starts In The Home” mean to you?
As a woman who wears many hats (or scarves lol) from being a wife, mom, working full-time, creative/entrepreneur, church volunteer/ leader, and so much more, I always share that my first ministry is HOME!
There are many days where I struggle with balancing it all and each time the Holy Spirit reminds me of who God created me to be through Proverbs 31.
Most of us have read this passage and may walk away thinking “I have to do all that or how can I!” But what I’ve learned through my personal time with God is that this depiction of this woman isn’t a strict model of how we're supposed to live daily, but it illustrates how God empowers us to lead in our homes, businesses/careers, and communities.
“Ministry Starts in the Home” means knowing who I am in Christ and how His power and strength dwells within me so that I can fulfill the roles and responsibilities that He has given me. In addition, it’s focusing on the home front by watering my relationship with God, my family, and then from there His favor and blessings will flow into every other aspect of my life. The home ministry is about grace and influencing others -- on God’s terms.
But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. - Proverbs 31:30
Q. Tell us about your business or ministry and how you incorporate this mission in your business or ministry and everyday life?
We as women tend to wear a cape that wasn’t intended for us. It’s like we get caught up in this Superwoman persona that cripples our ability to experience the abundance and freedom that God is calling us to.
But I decided to say no more and set out to grow and engage a community of women, sheilluminates, who will own their flaws but embrace grace to grow and illuminate God’s truth and light -- starting in the home!
This Christian community of women talk about real things -and we value transparency, honesty, and vulnerability. We grow and walk out our faith together and we mirror to each other what we need most - grace, not perfection.
We know that leading the home ministry is a blessing yet hard work. And I know that this is an area of our lives that not only affects us individually and our families, but generations to come. And like we see in Proverbs 31, this woman operated under grace, worked hard, poured into others, but most importantly - she followed God.
I also know that there is a real enemy who doesn’t want us to operate in faith and he tends to like to stir things in our homes starting with our mindsets. He distorts our schedules making us seem too busy to invest in our relationship with Christ or make time to rest, stirs fear, doubt, and comparison in how we see ourselves. So, I’m taking a stand, saying no more, and inviting others to join me.
Sheilluminates is about moms, daughters, best friends, single parents, wives, creatives, entrepreneurs, and so many more empowering one another to dig deeper in their spiritual walk, influence those in their circle with grace, and living out their purpose with passion. This community receives my culmination of my personal mentoring and the best resources and products on productivity, emotional support, accountability, prayer, faith walking, self-care, overcoming fear, entrepreneurship, and femininity.
