February Guest Blogger: Elizabeth Farr of ElizabethMadeThis.com
We are continuing with our guest blogger series in 2018 and I'm excited to bring you another creative, Elizabeth Farr of ElizabethMadeThis.Com. I met Elizabeth while in the sewing community and engaging in various sewing groups online. I found the creativity that Elizabeth exhibited through her creations to be very motivational as well as inspiring. Once, I found out that she is also a fellow Christian and business woman I knew that I wanted to have her as a guest blogger. I reached out to Elizabeth and asked her to be a guest blogger for February, our first guest blogger for 2018 and she said "yes". Read below our interview with Elizabeth and learn more about her as well as what she currently has going on. Also, if you are a sewist or know someone that is, please share the information below about the current challenge Elizabeth is hosting, it will be a ton of fun!!
Q. First, can you tell us a little about yourself and what started your mission and vision for your business or ministry?
I'm Elizabeth. I'm a stay at home Mom of 4 kids. I'm a sewing blogger at elizabethmadethis.com, and I have a small line of one of a kind garments that I sell at a local boutique in Denver. I'm a lifelong musician and a church musician since I was 15, and I also teach a couple violin students and direct the kids' Christmas music program every year at our church. It's my joy and my privilege to get to serve the body of Christ with the gifts that I've been given.
Q. What does “Ministry Starts In The Home” mean to you?
Having 4 small children, it's my duty and my husband's duty and joy to daily share the Gospel with them. If I go and tell my neighbor about the hope and the freedom that they can have in Christ but neglect to share the joy of that with my own family, what good am I? We all sin against each other and have to step back and ask for forgiveness. When this happens, I have the joy of reminding and being reminded that Jesus bled and died for that one too. We pray together and read the Bible as a family. We will never have perfect lives, this side of Heaven, but we strive to live our lives out of reverence and thankfulness to the Lord and to love and serve our neighbors in the ways that we are able.
Q. Tell us about your business or ministry and how you incorporate this mission in your business or ministry and everyday life?
I'm in the process of trying to figure out the next step for me in business. I formerly taught elementary general music before my children were born. I really am hoping and praying for a job when my children are all in school that allows me to continue staying at home. I have an idea of what that looks like, but I have many many steps to move towards in making that happen. Ultimately, I want to love and serve my neighbor by sharing my joy of sewing through teaching.
Q. Where can our readers can find you? Do you have any particular events or promotions coming up that we should be aware of?
I blog at elizabethmadethis.com, I'm on Instagram @elizabethmadethis, and on YouTube Elizabeth Made This. I'm hosting The Day and Night Dress Challenge. I've assembled a crew of 40+ bloggers and vloggers who will be revealing their dresses the week of February 22nd-28th on my blog and on YouTube. The community challenge is being hosted on Instagram from now until March 5th. All the details about the challenge and the rules and all of the wonderful prizes up for grabs are here.
